Mr. Michael Brasel is the NuScale Power Carbon Free Power Project (CFPP) Director, serving as the liaison for the CFPP project with Utah Associated Municipal Power Systems.
During his 11 years with NuScale, Mr. Brasel has served as director for several different work groups, including Projects, Manufacturing, Product Cost Management, and Licensing.
Mr. Brasel began his career in the U.S. Navy Nuclear Power Program on two nuclear power-guided missile cruisers where he worked as a nuclear operator, maintenance technician, and project manager for decommissioning. He has more than 25 years of power generation experience, including 10 years with Dairyland Power Cooperative, three of which he was plant manager of the Dairyland’s La Crosse Boiling Water Reactor. Brasel was also a project manager for large capital and maintenance projects at various power generation plants.
Mr. Brasel received a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from Old Dominion University and a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for Lake Region Electric Cooperative and Great River Energy.
