CFPP EPC Contractor

CFPP LLC awarded Fluor a contract in January 2021 to provide estimating, development, design and engineering services for its Carbon Free Power Project. The project scope includes the development of cost estimates and initial project planning work for the licensing, manufacturing and construction of the SMR project.

Fluor is supporting CFPP LLC with the combined construction and operating license approval (COLA) process from the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, with the submittal expected in early 2024. Fluor is responsible for the engineering, procurement and construction of the entire CFPP facility and will be self-performing the design efforts for the Turbine Island and Balance of Site.

In 2011, Fluor Corporation made a significant investment in NuScale Power. With the investment, Fluor is NuScale’s majority shareholder and provider of EPC services. NuScale’s SMR design features a fully fabricated NuScale Power Module™ capable of generating 77 megawatts of electricity (MWe) using a safer, smaller, scalable version of pressurized water reactor technology.

Currently, Fluor is poised to assist the CFPP LLC and NuScale in bringing the world’s first clean energy, carbon-free SMR project to commercialization. Fluor and NuScale are working with the CFPP LLC in the development of the Carbon Free Power Project, a 462-megawatt plant in Idaho using six NuScale SMRs, which once completed will provide reliable, cost-competitive, base load, carbon-free electricity to the CFPP LLC member’s utilities.
